The central theme of the Forum is Sustainable Water Resources Management and Delta Ecosystem Maintenance. The IYRF Conference facility consists of a main conference hall for plenary sessions and several meeting rooms for technical sessions.

 

1.   Technical Sessions

 

According to the content and the number of papers we have received, the opening and closing ceremony, general reports and keynote speeches will be held in the main conference hall, and the technical sessions will be held in the meeting rooms in parallel sessions. Two scientists, one is from host country and another is from guest country, will together chair and cochair a session. Technical sessions will be grouped as follows:

 

A. Sustainable Water Resources Management and Basin Ecosystem Construction

Contents: This session will discuss the sustainable water resources management and integrated river basin management; basin ecosystem construction and sustainable development; water resources management technology of surface water and groundwater, rainfall and runoff, etc.

 

B. Delta Ecosystem Protection and Maintenance

Contact: Zhang Huaxing (Secretariat, LOC)

Contents: Delta wetlands and biodiversity protection; Related laws and regulations applied on delta ecosystem protection; Management and approach of delta ecosystem maintenance, etc.

 

C. Delta Ecosystem and Delta Development Modes

Contact: Zhang Huaxing (Secretariat, LOC)

Contents: Delta evolution mechanism, evolution rules and regulation; Tide movement impacts on estuary water and sediment exchange and evolution; Delta ecosystem protection and development modes; Economy development modes and experiences in delta area.

 

D. Strategies and Practices on Keeping Healthy Life of Rivers

Contact: Pang Hui (Secretariat, LOC)

Contents: Ideas and indicators of healthy river life; Measures, approaches and practices of keeping healthy life of rivers; Experiences and approaches of basin water environment protection and river function coordination, etc.

 

E. River Engineering and River Ecology

Contact: Fan Jie (Secretariat, LOC)

Contents: Flood control, ice defense, drought relief and engineering management under the idea of keeping healthy life of rivers; Engineering demand of river ecology and environmental flow; River ecological environment monitoring, water pollution prevention technology and water resources protection measures; River ecological water demand and ecosystem rehabilitation.

 

F. Regional Water Resources Allocation and Interbasin Water Transfer

Contents: Regional water demand and allocation of industry, agriculture, ecology and livelihood, etc.; Interbasin water transfer and water resources optimal allocation; Water resources regulation and management; Interbasin water transfer impacts evaluation on society, economy and environment.

 

G. Water Right, Water Market and Water-saving Society

Contact: Wang Jinzhou (Secretariat, LOC)

Contents: Laws and regulations applied on water right, water price and water market; Approaches and management experiences of water-saving society construction; Experiences and measures on water right, water market and integrated water resources management; Water resources capital management and new water-saving technologies.

 

H. High-tech Application in Modern Basin Management and its Development Trend

Contact: Fan Jie (Secretariat, LOC)

Contents: Modern basin management ideas and integrated water resources management modes; Modern hydrological forecast and monitoring technology; Basin management simulation technology; Basin physical and mathematical simulation technologies; GIS, GPS, RS technologies application in modern basin management and their development trends.

Theme: River basin management; Water-saving irrigation; Water rights management and Urban water management

3Poster and exhibition

 

For the convenience of the institute and personal to show their new research achievements, the Forum Organization Committee will provide the exhibition area for the participants during the Forum. Up to date, we have received the exhibition applications of the enterprises from US, Germany, Italian, Dutch and international institute, such as WWF. Especially, about 15 enterprises from Spain will attend the exhibition. Many enterprises from China also submit their applications. If you have willing to exhibit, please fill in attachment the Form attached and return it to the LOC Secretariat before Sep.15th, 2007.

 

The main topics of exhibition of this Forum including: Water Resources and River Basin Management, Ecologic Environment, Wetland Protection, Drinking Water Treatment, Water-saving Irrigation, Water Saving Equipment and Products, Water Resource and Hydropower Technology Equipment, Construction Equipment, Informationization on Water Resources etc.

 

The main exhibition area will arrangement at Blue Horizon Hotel, the target people will be more than 1000 participants of the Forum. At the same time, there will be 1st Tourism Culture Expo of the Yellow River Estuary hosted by Dongying municipal government, we will arrangement sub-exhibition area at the Expo, the target people will be more than 10,000 participants of the Expo.
