Yellow River Basin Coordinator Attended 3rd General Meeting of NARBO

During 20-22 February 2008, Ms. Sun Feng, the Yellow River Basin Coordinator attended the 3rd general meeting of NARBO ( Network of Asian River Basin Organizations) in Solo/Surakarta of Indonesia.

NARBO is the network of water-relater agencies in Asia. It was announced at the 3rd World Water Forum in March 2003, NARBO was officially established in February 2004 to promote integrated water resources management (IWRM) in monsoon areas of Asia. The goal of NARBO is to help achieve IWRM in river basins throughout Asia.

The 3rd general meeting was held with the focus of Managing Water Allocation and Sedimentation, Facilitating IWRM in Planning and Implementation, Sisk Management, Challenges Facing in IWRM etc.

During the meeting, Ms. Sun Feng discussed with other delegates on the IWRM, Yellow River water management etc. They both hope to promote the water management through join efforts of different areas, sectors and levels. Ms. Sun Feng thinks it is significant for international/regional organizations or programmes to integrate the resources to make out countermeasures in the context of global climate change, water resources shortage etc.
