Young Professionals Attended International Groundwater Training

During Nov. 13 to Dec. 11 of 2007, The second phase of groundwater training project of CPWF was held in India. Two young professionals from YRCC attended the training.

Groundwater governance in China is urgent to be improved and the unreasonable exploration of groundwater is serious. Excessive exploration of groundwater has caused environmental problems. China Government have attached great attention to the issue. In the report of 17th National People?s congress, it is put forward to protect water resources, establish a reasonable resources-using system to improve resources use efficiency.

The two trainees from YRCC have the background of hydrology and water resources etc. Through the training, they get more understanding the problems and challenges facing YellowRiver basin groundwater governance, deepen their knowledge system of groundwater, and also build the idea to combine technical measure with social, economic, mechanical, institutional, legal measures etc. to address the issue.
