Yellow River Newspaper Report (Li Xiaoying, Journalist of Yellow River Newspaper) According to the organizing committee of the 4th International Yellow River Forum (IYRF), the organization and preparation of the 4th IYRF has been ready including venues for plenary sessions and technical sessions, schedule of the forum, delegate list and so on. The forum is well prepared to warmly welcome delegates and friends from all over the world.
The 4th IYRF will be held in Zhengzhou during Oct. 20-23, 2009. The main theme of the 4th IYRF is Ecological Civilization and River Ethics. It is aiming at reviewing and rebuilding the relationship between human being and rivers, to improve the awareness of river protection and conservation, to call on enhanced measures from the society to protect rivers, and to achieve the harmony coexistence of both human being and rivers.
Focusing on the main theme, the 4th IYRF will be organized with 10 technical sessions, 15 special sessions on inter-government cooperation or jointly organized by international organization. According to the organizing committee of the 4th IYRF, it is also scheduled that the Yellow River Conservancy Foundation will be established during the opening ceremony of the 4th IYRF. In addition, the forum will witness the signature of MOUs on international cooperation and the launching of new cooperation projects. The 4th IYRF will be held in both the main venue and session venues in accordance with the program.
Nearly a thousand of registration forms have been submitted to the organizing committee of the 4th IYRF so far. Delegates in a variety of professional areas ranging from water resources, river basin management to social science and humanities, coming from over 60 countries including America, Mexico, Australia, Egypt, India, Japan and European Union member countries will join the forum to share their ideas and experiences, to deepen mutual understanding and improve cooperation based on wide and deep discussion and communication. Furthermore, Minister of Water Resources of China, Minister of Water Resources of Singapore, Ambassador of the Delegation of European Committee to China, Australian Ambassador to China, State secretary of Ministry of Environment and Water of Hungary, well-known senior management staff of many international organizations and presidents or directors from river basin agencies of Rhine, Danube, Rhone, Murray-Darling and other rivers will present during the 4th Forum.
