On October15, the Centre of Hydro-Informatics in River Basin(CHIRB)was listed in YRCC, Zhengzhou. Mr.Xucheng, Deputy Director of YRCC and Mr.Walt, Chief Water Resource Expert of ADB held the setting up ceremony for the centre and presented speech. Mr.Sumaolin, Deputy Director of YRCC,hosted the setting up ceremony.
CHIRB,as the only centre established by Asia Pacific Water Forum Knowledge Hubs in basin management institution, will be hosted by YRCC. On the basis of “Digital Yellow River”of YRCC,the main function of CHIRB is to provide technical service such as scientific research, project consultation and training etc for government water conservancy, organizations in asia pacific area.
Mr.Xucheng pointed out that Yellow River is facing draconian questions due to water resourse shortage and water environment in the new time. In face of the draconian tasks, YRCC brought up the new river management idea of "Keeping Healthy Life of the River” and the new concept of “three Yellow River ” viz, “Physical River , DigitalRiver and Modeling River”. YRCC developed a series of research and obtained preferable results.
Mr. Xucheng expressed that YRCC continually pushed international water affairs cooperation, welcoming experts from different countries and areas to YRCC and together discussing river management experience. As the member of Asia Pacific Water Forum Knowledge Hubs, YRCC will further enhance international cooperation and provide more chances for water affair intercommunion in asia pacific area.
MR.Walt,as the representative of ADB ,Chief Water Resource Expert of ADB congratulated CHIRB established in YRCC. He expressed that the ultimate purpose of establishment of CHIRB is to enhance the cooperation between different countries and area in asia pacific to push unitive management of water resource, providing technical support for solving water issues in asia pacific area.
He hoped YRCC can devote more suggestions for the development of CHIRB, sharing advanced knowledge and experience of water resource management, together to deal with water resource crises.
