Emergency water diversion from Aksu River to the mainstream of the Tarim River has reached Qiala water complex at 5:00, May 27 and with a flow of 6.7m3/s, after 20 days’ operation. This is the first time in the history to divert water from Aksu River to the lower reaches of the Tarim.

It was three days after the removal of last dam on the mouth of the Wusiman River in the middle reaches of the Tarim River since May 24, water finally runs to the lower reaches, which helps to relieve the tension of agricultural irrigated water use in lower Tarim, and safeguard the ecological water needs as well.

At present, the Tarim Management Bureau concentrates its efforts on ensuring diverted water reach the Daxihaizi Reservoir.
